Fluffy Potato Puffs Recipe: These are simply the best!

What are the secrets behind perfect potato cakes? Potato dumplings are among the favorite Slovak dishes.But did you know that there are a number of ways to prepare them?

We will tell you a proven recipe and a few tips, thanks to which your bagels will taste great.

We need:

potatoes.

2 eggs.

800 g plain flour.

1 package of dry yeast.

2 teaspoons of salt.

1 tbsp granulated sugar.

400-500 ml of warm milk.

butter.

100 ml of vegetable oil.

For sprinkling and rubbing:.

1 egg.

sesame seeds.

Procedure:

Pour flour into a deep bowl. We dig a hole in the middle.

We pour in sugar and yeast.

Pour with a little warm milk.Cover with a lid.

We will wait until the yeast is activated..

Then add salt and break the eggs into the mixture.

Gradually add milk and knead the dough by hand.

Finally, we add oil, knead a smooth dough.

Then cover the bowl and let the dough rise until it doubles in volume.

Meanwhile, grate the potatoes boiled in their skins and cut the butter.

On a floured board roll out the dough thinly..

Add coarsely grated potatoes to half of the dough.

Salt, season and add slices of butter.

Fold the dough over to the other side and roll it out (see video).

We repeat the whole procedure again and roll out the dough with a rolling pin.

Dough cut out using a mold and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper.

Brush the patties with beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.

Bake at 180°C until golden brown.

Ideas for improving potato wedges

Fillings: In addition to classic potatoes, you can add various fillings to the puff pastry, such as crackers, smoked meat, cheese, spinach or mushrooms.

Add herbs (rosemary, thyme) or seeds (sesame, flax) to the dough.

Spices: Experiment with different spices (cumin, coriander, red pepper).

Shape: Instead of classic wheels, you can cut out puff pastry into different shapes.

Serving: You can serve the pies with sour cream, tartar sauce or salad.
